Is anyone familiar with the APC UPS? I have a samsung DLP and HD-Tivo and I am interested in a UPS but I am not sure of which to get. APC has several on their refurb website: Link (http://buy.apc.com/commerce/storefronts/factoryoutlet/productList.aspx?storefrontcode=apcfo&countrycode=us&catalogname=apc_rfb_us&MSCSProfile=95385A1F52DEA1A229D5B37542054464441FB3 E0342A86FC3A279BDDD6E7C4E185FB8964BBDCB1D0A00CB94F 2274F9EC5DB4C2AD2FF171B4A6159654CEC0B1972535F3159B B7695A56EF165EEAC3516770F8D50B41DF42F3BEB42F86F02B 6F451ACB2EB36AEE6E406332B5E4099447920CEAA0AC303E03 AE6DC404B000C3D45549DDAEE2F7AB82B4)

Any suggestons?

I have a Back-UPS XS 1500 on my computer here at home. It works great and can handle a good amount of power. What's your goal with this device? To keep watching TV during a power outage or something to protect your equipment during electrical surges? The XS 1500 should be able to handle your TV & Tivo, keeping them running for a few minutes during a blackout. The cost was about $200 from CompUSA. If you're looking for protection then look into a good line conditioner. I highly recommend PS Audio for power related items. They sell recepticles for your home that are hospital grade clean. If you get one of their devices you'll be able to see an improvement in video noise along with better protection on all your equipment.

I use the CNB900 VA UPS for my Panny, HD TiVo, and Denon, and it works great. I use a Back-UPS 1000 pro for my PC and an ES 500 for my Xbox 360 and Sub (believe me, the 360 needs it's own). APC makes great UPS'

After reading reports that people's 360s crash with the red LEDs after being unplugged at the wrong time it makes me want to get one just for that. Actually I think I have a spare laying around that just might work if it can handle the power load required by the 360.

I'm using a refurbished APC SmartUPS 1250VA to protect my Samsung DLP (and various other stuff, like SA8300HD DVR, Samsung SIR-T351, a couple ReplayTVs, etc.)

I got the UPS from RefurbUPS.com (http://www.refurbups.com).

I use an HT1000UPS model by Tripp Lite.

It's not as fully-featured as some "pro" models, but for $200 it does have a lifetime warranty and an LED voltage meter...as well as audible alarms and line conditioning, ect.

Good value if you're not looking to spend a big chunk of cash.

For AV use, you want to make sure to get a "true online", to be fully correct a "double conversion" UPS. This will act as an AC filter, along with providing backup power. I am a fan of the MGE Pulsar series. One should run $500-$800 based on capacity.

The standard $200 ups is a line interactive, or on the really cheap ones a "standby" ups.

I'm not much of an Internet Product Shill, but I take by the tone of your post that a $200 UPS is a pile of crap, and that is not the case:

Now, I'm sure the $800 UPS has better stats, but I fail to see how something in this price range is not adaquate for the average consumer. Maybe I'm just ignorant to how and what stats are important to a UPS system...and if that's the case, I'd like someone to point out where this UPS is improperly protecting my Home Theater.
