Just got off the phone with Dish for 45 min trying to get a upgrade from a 211 to a 622, they told me that there was no offer they could give me as a existing customer and that I had to pay 549.00 if I wanted one. Why? They couldn't tell me. I pay on time, been with Dish for 6 months, still no lease? Anyone make sense out of this? Never a late payment, no credit issues, I just don't get it. I want to cancel and go to Direct or digital. Just got off w/ direct tv, 199.00 gets me a hr20 and 2 other boxes. Made a install for next week, but want to consider cable as well now that they are all digital(Time Warner).

Why does Dish want to roll me over and do me dry?

I called Dish back last night, the 1st guy that I talked to told me that I can get it for 149.00. Wow. What the Heck is going on over there? He is reading all of the notes from the previous csr and tells me that she didn't know what she was talking about. He gave me her id# to file a complaint, whatever.

I read that they're now giving new customers the vip622 for no up front cost. Drives me crazy when companies do this. Makes an existing customer feel like a lesser life form.

Dish doesn't care about retaining good customers, they just want to concentrate on new subs. They are knobs, but Directv will pull the same crap with existing customers. Time Warner all digital now, no upfront cost, as many hd dvrs that you want, hmmmm. What does Dish offer now that Time Warner doesn't? 15 extra channels of high def crap. Lets all get together and watch some old lady bake a cake in hd! Can't get enough of that great content. Sure, the hardware is superior to both cable and direct, oh well.
