Do you know if it will be the Rangers vs. Penguins? That one is HD. Last week we had a backup non-HD game.

Help NBC4Eng - I noticed Ch. 4 is listing Detroit and Dallas for tomorr'w NHL game, which is not HD, rather than Rangers-Penguins, which is HD. I called Channel 4 sports to ask why they are not broadcasting the HD game, and they told me to call NBC in New York, as it is a national issue.

Once I got through to New York (after first being sent to a full mailbox and disconnected), I was put on with someone who was clueless, who told me it was a local issue.

Does anyone there know what's going on? Give us the HD game

Unfortunately, we are getting only the Detroit Dallas game offered to us in standard definition. Only one game, Pittsburgh vs. New York is offered in HD. Just not enough equipment for all the venues in addition to the Olympic use of HD equipment. All of the Ohio group gets D vs. D only. Sorry.

I understand that with Olympic preparation, not all the NHL games can be in HD, but NBC's decision not to give Columbus the HD Rangers-Penguins game tomorrow is puzzling for at least 2 reasons. First, with the popularity of HDTV, it's hard to believe any market other than those whose teams are playing in the backup game would not be given the lead, HD game. Second, there are plenty of Pittsburgh fans in this town. (I, for one, work with many.)

In sum, how is NBC properly promoting NHL hockey by giving Columbus a standard definition game?

I'm just the messenger, these decisions are made in New York. We just do as we are told. Maybe after we're sold we'll have a choice.

Shaun,
Speaking of the sale. Is this going to be a good thing or bad thing? Just wondering what everyone's opion is.
Thanks

We have no clue what will happen to us. There are four stations in our group that are on the block. Depending on the deal struck, all of us, or just one at a time could go. For now it's business as usual.
