Wow. Maybe we Dish guys should ask for a partial refund. I think that I paid $249 or $199 up front for that thing a few months back.

DirecTV is really good at giving some credit towards your bill when their expensive boxes go on the cheap. Does Dish have a retention department? If so, that's where I would start.

Dish may also give out free upgrades to existing customers, it's a little murky right now but I'll let you know as things shake out.
