I'm new to these forums, but the reason I joined was because it is next to impossible to find an HD Tuner in Columbus' stores. I was so desperate for one that I ordered one on Thursday and did next day air delivery hoping to receive it before the game, but the place I ordered it through didn't process my order until today. Needless to say, I cancelled my order through them because today is the main reason I wanted one.

I'll pay up to $150 for one today (Monday). If you are interested in making a quick buck off of one that you have laying around.....

Thanks,
Brad Lape

Man, that sucks. I don't have an extra one currently, but have you tried some of the more obscure places around Columbus like Genesis Audio, Sears, or The Great Indoors? Snodgrass23 may have more places in mind for you to check out.

Thanks for the suggestions, no I haven't tried any of those. I'll have to check.

Keep us posted! I've heard a lot of people with TWC are having similar problems finding tuners for the game.

Figure that: I work for Time Warner Cable (and of course TWC isn't carrying 6 or 28 in HD), but live outside of it's area and have Adelphia/TW and not very good service at that. I can see columbus from my back yard and yet I can't get an HD tuner without dishing out lots of money on a new screen. Oh well such is life!

If you don't mind watching the game on your desktop or laptop you could always rush over to CompUSA and buy a USB 2.0 Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 950 for $99. From what I've seen, the OTA HD images have some amazing detail coming out of this little stick tuner. The software that comes with it includes a DVR function but video is only saved to disk as a compressed 704 x 480 MPG-2 file.

Another possible source are big-box retail stores. You can often buy a demo-model DirecTV HD tuner pretty cheap if you can find one. You can use it for OTA tuning without installing or activating the satellite features.

I guess I'm somewhat relieved that I didn't watch the atrocity in HD last night. OSU didn't even show up to play ball. Anyways, I'm almost reluctant to get my hopes up for next season.

Weird, my friend is in a similar situation, but he doesn't want to drop 150. We have a line on one in another post on this forum, but he really wants an HDMI out and I don't think the one we are looking at has one.

If we don't grab it you might want to contact Ault for his.

This new Samsung may be the ticket.....

The E-VSB chips in the new Samsung tuner listed above make it a very good way to go.

After a small modification is added to the country's broadcast transmitter modulators to match these enhanced receivers, the word from Sinclair's test engineers is that OTA multi-path dropouts could become a thing of the past.

Perhaps the analog shut-off in 2009 is a real possibility after all?
