720p v/s 1080i

ok guys, i need help on this one. wich is better. i just got the xbox 360 and some games come in 720p and others do 1080i. i understand that 720p is a better format being progressive. but its still 720 lines. as 1080 is interlaced. but is 300 more lines the 720p. so at 60 frames a second. wich is better, the progressive, or more lines or res. or am i wrong on what homework i have done so far?

What display are you using? 720p is better for motion but it is also important to match the resolution to the native resolution of your display.
