Does anyone know how to turn the grey bars on HD channels in Time Warner to black? I think I remember seeing it somewhere but can't find the post now.

Thanks!

There's no way to do it through the TW box via the settings, but here is a good workaround that I use:

For your HD channels (16x9) run the output of the TW box out of the HDMI or component as you're already doing. Also, run an s-video and audio cables out of the TW box into a seperate analog input on your TV. When you want to watch your non-HD channels (analog or digital, 4:3), use the s-video input on your TV. You will get black sidebars instead of grey. When you watch your HD channels just switch your TV input back to the HDMI or Component input.

Piece of cake, works like a charm, no more grey sidebars. The PQ through the s-video (or even composite) on the non-HD channels is still very good (especially with the s-video). You have to hit and extra button when switching between HD and non-HD, but to me it is worth it not to have the grey sidebars.

Hope that helps!
