Not sure this is the right place to post and ask this, but will go ahead anyway...
I just recently moved from the Columbus area, so I no longer receive WOSU. They are broadcasting a show I would love to get a capture/transport stream of. The friends and family I still have in Columbus do not have the ability to capture the show. Would anyone be able to help me out?
Would love to discuss this more with anyone who can help or has any ideas on how to capture this.
Thanks

That would be awesome thanks!!!
The show is the "Pride of the Buckeyes" which airs Monday at 8pm and 10:30pm and a few other times after that. They are listing it as "a WOSU TV High-Definition Documentary" although it is not playing on WOSU-HD, just WOSU and WOSU-Plus. I am obviously looking to get it in the best resolution possible.
I am not familiar with the hd-dvd file structure, is that something I can play via my pc? Looking for the best resolution especially if the show is in HD. I am willing to do some work to get the best results.
I can send you DVDs to burn this onto, just let me know.
Thanks again.

Thanks for the welcome Scott. I was a member back in the .org days. Have been lurking but never registered here.
NakedEye let me know if you need anything from me and if you can make the recording. I really appreciate it.
Do I even want to know why his tivo might explode? :)

nakedeye - thanks again.
Just let me know when you are done with it and we can make arrangements to get it to me.
I am curious what the actual resolution and size is since they are touting this as High Def.

I was planning on recording this but WOSU HD didn't show it. What gives? I thought this was going to be broadcast in HD?

It can't be High-Definition if it is on WOSU-Plus. WOSU-Plus is a low-bitrate sub-channel. 480i.

That is the problem. They are advertising this as being High-Definition.

The only channels they list it as being on are WOSU (34) and WOSU-Plus.
They list WOSU-Plus as DTV only. So the questions becomes which channel would have the best picture?

well that was quick. Wrote WOSU an email asking them about the situation and got a response back in under an hour. Go public broadcasting! :)
Dear Tim;
My most sincere apologies for the confusion with the announcement of the HD information. The program is indeed scheduled for broadcast on our HD channel January 4th at 8pm. Last nights program was down converted to a regular analog signal in order that we could reach the largest amount of our viewers as possible.
Hope that helps. If I can be of any further assistance please feel free to contact me.

Sounds like a marketing ploy to me, especially when their web site says "Pledge now and you can receive this DVD as a "Thank You"..."

nakedeye, would it be possible for you to capture the HD broadcast of this as well? What format would be best for transport?
thanks

I plan on capturing it. I can share via torrent as I plan on distributing it already for another forum.

well i have the sd version if any want... it's 480X480 (i know weird, but thats how tivo works)
i can capture the hd, but the only way to watch it would be via mpeg2 via pc, or red laser hd dvd if you have a player.
let me know
