I have made a slight adjustment to the 5.1 system as per NBC request. This has to do with switching between HD programs and SD commercials while in network prime shows. The Dolby logic is being controlled a bit differently then before. Let me know if you have any issues with surround. Regards.

I made a post in the "new encoder chain" thread before I saw this one.
The problem I have with commercials vs. programs is that the commercials are WAY too loud. We watch in 5.1, and turn up the program to a nice level. When the commercials come on, we have to hit the mute button so as not to scare the kids out of their beds upstairs. Don't know if that's the kind of problem you had in mind, but it inconveniences us...

This is not the problem I was referring to in my post. There is a difference in the audio levels between the network and the local upconvert. This has always been a problem. Our analog transmitter chain has audio processing gear to average out the differences. The digital plant has none of that equipment yet. There is very little gear manufactured that mimics the analog processing chain. Level differences on the digital side show up as they occur.
HD program originators are many to NBC and they all do things a little differently. Without some type of digital levelling this problem will show up. Sorry for the inconvenience. When I find something that will work I'll try to obtain the device.
