OK, I've lived with Insight's HD DVR for 6 months now, and it is time to jump ship. I'm a former DirecTV subscriber that has been following the HR-20 news, and the bug reports have warranted an investigation of the Dish offering.

Am I correct that Dish does not offer Columbus locals in HD? AND that they are not on the short list to be offered any time soon? I'm in Lewis Center, can I expect to pick up everything with whatever antenna I may be able to get Dish to throw in to the new subscriber package?

Also - if anyone out there has had access to both the VIP622 and the HR20 and can offer an objective comparison, that would be appreciated.

no local hd channels. i'm in delaware, and i've had issues lately with wcmh, but others have also, so it looks like it's wcmh's fault. as for the antenna getting all the channels, i think you have a pretty good chance of it since you're close. i ended up putting a winegard ss-2000 on the roof, i'm getting very strong signal strength on everything except wsyx (which is about 20 less than the others), because it's vhf. so, if you can put an antenna on your roof, you'll probably be good to go.

as for the dvr, i don't have one (it won't let you watch one ota channel and record a different ota channel).

I'm also in Delaware, I get all channels without any problems. I can also get 2 mansfield channels at night although they have nothing to watch. I was just playing with my brothers hd 20, the 622 blows it away. Not even close.

The 622 has a minor bug. It will lose audio if you ff/rr/ff/rr too often too quickly. You then must reboot to get it back. At least with mine.

And don't forget that you may be using the 622 with another tv in another room. That other room will occupy one of the tuners. You basically have 3 tuners in that thing. OTA, sat1 and sat2. If tv2 is using sat2 and tv1 is using sat1, you won't be able to record a sat provided show unless either tv is watching it. Just something to keep in mind.
