i have an hd ready lcd tv for about year now......i was living on osu campus then and my neighbor said that the hd antenna setup would not work.....but now i live on kinnear road, close to west campus....i have been planning to by an indoor hdtv antenna for a while now but i do not know anybody who has used one successfully......i have the following questions...
1) i have a hdtv ready tv if i get an hdtv antenna from target or circuitcity which cost about 30-40 dollars, i should get over the air hd channels( fox, nbc, cbs...etc)....right...
2)my window faces downtown/the osu towers so the signal should be good ....right....
3) do i need a hdtv tuner box or having only the antenna will do
4) does anybody have any suggestions for indoor antenna(i live on the second floor)
thanks in advance......

If your set is "HDTV Ready" then you'll need a receiver to tune the channels along with an antenna.2)my window faces downtown/the osu towers so the signal should be good ....right....
Check out http://www.antennaweb.org, enter your location information, and this should give you a good idea of where you should point it, what channels you'll receive, etc.3) do i need a hdtv tuner box or having only the antenna will do
See the answer to question one :D4) does anybody have any suggestions for indoor antenna(i live on the second floor)
It really depends on what antennaweb.org tells you. If you're mostly in the green/yellow, a cheap Radio Shack antenna should do the trick (unless you have some obstructions like trees or buildings in your way).thanks in advance......
And, welcome to HD Columbus!

.
1 - no. you have to have an hd tuner. hd-ready doesn't equal hd built-in.
2 - right... although, as many of us have found out, multipath could be an issue. more on that later.
3 - need the tuner (but if you have cable or satellite, their hd tuners should have an antenna input.
4 - and here's the problem. from everything i've read, if you have your antenna indoors, you might have multipath issues (i have that problem too). so, if i were you, i'd find an old bowtie antenna, or an old rabbit ears antenna at a garage sale or big lots or something for less than $5, and try that first (sounds like you're pretty close to downtown). if that doesn't work, tell us, and we'll try to steer you towards an antenna that will work.
5 - there's really no such things as an 'hd antenna'. all digital (including hd) tv signals use the normal tv frequencies that have been used for 50+ years. make sure the antenna picks up uhf and vhf since we have stations on both here.
