I just suffered through the 11/15 broadcast of Bones that i recorded on my Directv HD-DVR. And the 11/29 edition of Prison Break was awful - not only for dropouts, but for pixelation, etc. It seems like FOX has the most drop-outs of any of the broadcast channels that come through DTV - is this common becuase of obtaining the signal OTA - and is it an antenna issue or is it just a broadcast issue? Can this be fixed? Is it better going with Insight/WOW/RoadRunner vs. DTV or Dish? Note that 11/29, it was raining - which seemed to affect the signal more - but then again, only Fox - not ABC which i was watching MNF fine...

tdhdfan, What is your location in position to the antenna? Have you checked out this (http://www.hdcolumbus.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32) thread to ensure that you pointed accurately? I too have an HR10-250 and sometimes reception for me on WTTE-DT is awful; however, for the past couple weeks, it has came in clear.

I can check, but I had the antenna installed by some DTV-sponsored resource who installed the standard winegard antenna
I live in the 43081 (Polaris) area. I can't get UPN 53, PBS is absolutley awful - but both of these are not that big of a deal - except watching the Cavs; But Fox is the big problem - and then it's typically when there's bad weather. I don't know how to check the direction since the winegard is supposed to be omni-directional.
I guess what i'm looking for advice in, is if i replace the antenna to a powered/amplified antenna like the StealthAntenna or the ChannelMaster 4228, would reception improve, or is it a product of the transmitters/service providers themselves and no hardware upgrades would resolve the issue?

I have the CM 4221 in my attic. Fox has had alot of dropouts in the past, but they seem to almost flawless for the alst couple of weeks. The Prison Break episode that you reference was perfect for me. I have the HD Tivo and I live in Dublin. you may want to try the channel master. I had Sat Vid Products (Lewis Center 740-548-7633) install it and they did a great job.
