Going to wait it out at least through this Christmas, probably wait until next. If I get a PS3 it will either be because I won the lottery or some other unforeseen event (I do have a soft spot for video games regardless of the brand).

where's the vote for 'who cares?' with yet another format war, i really just don't care anymore. i'll probably buy a ps3, but i've kind of lost interest in it also since it's been delayed so long.

I likely wont get into either format until I get a new TV and that wont be for either 4 years or when ever my current TV dies. At that point I should be able to tell which format (if any) is worth investing in. My vote currently is for Apple's iTV if it does good HD.

See above. I could only fit 10. I was hopeing people would just post that info here if they did not care.
On another note.... HD DVD on almost every poll ( non scientific) seems to be ahead drasticly. May not be such a war...

The announcement module is independent of the thread/post module, thus, I can't add a poll to an announcement. The best that I can do is post an annoucement that has a link to this thread.
Let me know if this is what you'd like.
I've also made it the default poll on the homepage.

Changed the option to 15 if you'd like to edit.

yeah if we could have a post with a link that would be cool.
It's not even close to scientific, but interesting non the less.
I'll edit the poll later.

I originally was going to wait it out, but had a $40 off $200 coupon to CC that I used to pickup the 360 HD-DVD drive. $160 for a next gen format player is well worth it in my opinion.

I'm holding out for Christmas on the 360 HD-DVD. I've asked for BB gift cards and I hope to apply those toward the total cost. It makes it really hard to want to watch movies in 480P right now :D

I picked up the 360 HD-DVD add-on today from BB--and I must admit that I am blown away with the PQ. Even on my native resolution 720p, 3 year old Panny, it looks great. I'm now lusting after a 1080p set

I was going to ask you about that. I noticed you were watching it last night. You should bring it down to my house so I can test it out and see how much I want one.

Your projector does 1080p, right? I think that the M$ VGA cable is needed in order to enable it.

I'm sure Blu-ray has this as well--but the overall content of the discs are equally amazing. Superman Returns has over 4 hours of extra content and deleted scenes, some in HD, and most up-converted. The menu system is excellent as well. I like how the menus overlay the movie with it paused to allow access toadditional content, change video and audio settings, and bookmark favorite scenes. The scenes menu is phenomenal too with visual scenes/chapter markers both in-menu and on the time bar. Too cool.

No. I thought that it might, but it doesn't. It works just like a CRT computer monitor in that it will accept certain resolutions and scan frequencies, but 1080p is too high. Besides, that would force me to change my wiring too much.

Well 720p looks damn good!
