Frankly, I don't care much one way or another. I just want a winner to emerge so I can get off the sidelines and the titles can start to flow with gusto. But, unless the PS3 is a total flop (which is still very unlikely despite all the missteps to date), I think Blu-ray will eventually win out because more people will be in a position to try it with something they have instead of an incremental purchase . Even if that purchase only ends up making PS3 and XBox 360 roughly equivalent in price (i.e. no significant price advantage either way), they psychology of having to make that incremental purchase will keep people from doing it. This will be doubly true if six months from now Blu-ray has a substantial lead in the number of titles.

hd dvd is going to win. It actualy full functions NOW. It has since day one. Everything they promised and more.

Ohh and glad I was not drinking milk when i read that article. I would have spit it out of my nose.

First off, blue-ray IS NOT DVD FORMAT. HD DVD is only able to called next gen dvd. Good ole Phil can be sued for that.

Second, at least one studio is going to neutral after abismal BD sales. Lions Gate will be on both formats very shorlty. Disney is expected early next year as well. That leaves Sony (obvious) and FOX. Fox did so well with Divx right.......

Third BD has been abysmall. HD DVD has broken the DVD benchmark upon release... Sounds pretty good to me!

Fourth polotics will play a role. HD DVD IS GOING TO STILL SELL MORE THAN BD. Warner will likely drop BD first.

Ohh and there are going to be 500,000 HD DVD players in homes this year alone. Most likey one par with all the BD players (ps3 included). ALL of the HD DVD players are going to be for HD. perhaps only 15 % of ps3's are going to be for bd...

I agree with nakedeye. HD DVD will win. I read the article too and it just didn't make sense to me on his points from everything I have heard and read. Also one other thing I think helps HD DVD is the fact that its called HD DVD! Most people will connect to it because of the use of the word DVD. People already have DVD's so the avenge person will make the switch. A very important part to the marketing of stuff. Plus people do care about price. The article glossed over the price different between Blue Ray and HD DVD. Most people do not and that's a big difference for most folks.

HD-DVD will certainly win out for me... $199 for the 360 add-on in November seals the deal for me.

Robbiee19, i only started watching firefly since it's on unihd now, and man, what a good show - funny as anything on tv, and some decent storylines and characters. wish it had lasted longer. how many episodes are there?

There are 14 episodes with the pilot being 2 hrs long, plus the movie Serenity (in HD DVD too). Just a great show. Also, you have not seen the best episodes yet! It is on DVD box set with extras. The lines by the actors are just great and every time I watch one I hear something new.

I think its not on unihd this week and Battle Star for some reason.
