The HD-A1 and the HDX-A1 are about as sold-out as a piece of consumer electronics can be...you may be able to find one online or on Ebay.

As far as brick and mortar goes...it's Gen. 2 in the near future....nobody is getting anymore G1.

I found 2 at BB over by the Tuttle Mall area next to 3 Blue Ray players.

Wow...Toshiba hasn't shipped any in months...that doesn't say much for the sell-through of the format to this point.

As much as I think HD-DVD is the better technology - and I'm rooting for it - I still maintain that BD will become the dominant HD optical format. Whether or not the people that are buying the PS3 are buying it for the BD or not...and whether or not people who are buying the PS3 have an HDTV or not right now - the fact is, they will own a BD player and when they upgrade to an HDTV or decide to start buying HD disks...they're going to buy BD.

I saw 3 Toshiba's at BB Easton today, but didn't see any blu ray players. They could have been there, but I wasn't looking that close.

I think HD-DVD has gotten so much monetum right now that it will out pace BD by the time the ps3's can realy make a differance.

Well, Blu-Ray has the advantage in movie studios with four of the majors releasing for Blu-Ray only compared to only Universal releasing for only HD-DVD (Warner is doing both). So, while HD-DVD has a small lead now in terms of number of titles available, it seems likely to me that a year from now Blu-Ray could have a substantial edge. That is, unless more studios start releasing for HD-DVD.

When it's all said and done, I price and quantity of content will determine the ultimate winner. HD-DVD has the lead in both now, but it's still so early that current momentum means little.

Well actualy the small lead in titles is not much. The lead is in pure sales of hardware and software. It is skyrocketing. BD is stuck in the mud.

As of now HD-DVD has all but Fox, Sony, Disney and Lionsgate realeasing on thier side. They are going to get Lionsgate here very shortly and Disney right after that.

Fox screwed up on Divx and I don't they will deny themselves of alot of money to be had like they did last time. I see them going in late 2007 to both formats.

That leaves one exclusive to each side.

We shall see...

Does any one know if they are going to make disc's with both formats on them? I thought I had read some were that may happen. If that happens then the whole HD DVD Blue ray war thing is mote.

only warner has expressed interest.

i dont think it will se the light of day beyond an already neutral studio. even then the cost per disc will be rediculous

I think we'll see more of a movement to universal players than disks.

I think we'll see more of a movement to universal players than disks. That's my thought too. Makes more sense in the end. Just hope it comes soon than later.

I'm still betting on iTV (or whatever it'll be called) from Apple. If they get major studio support and do HD well then I'll be all over that. I'd much rather have the content stored on my computer than having to get my lazy but off the couch to change discs. :) Of course I don't buy many dvds any more and probably would only want to use iTV as a rental service if that was possible.

Congrats! I have had mine since day one and it is truely the best peice of gear I have brought into my geekdom.....

I own a fair chunk of titles and rent the rest via NetFlix, you will not be disapointed.....

Target will now also be carrying HD flicks as well....

My recomendation is pick up Batman Begins....hands down the best overall demo and experience to date for the format.

Well, after looking everything over, I think I am going to go with the Toshiba HD-A2 when it comes out. I like the slim look. It will fit better into the cabinet. Plus the remote seems to be a designed better.

Do relise that you are going to miss out on the second best thing about HD DVD. You are not going to get any sort of advanced audio support. Dobly Digtal Plus is unbelivable, but True HD is rediculous.
