In preparation for the Tivo S3, I bought a Winegard Sharpshooter 3000 antenna (which is now labelled as a powered indoor TERK HDTV antenna) and hooked it up to my JVC tv last night to test the reception of the ABC and FOX signals that TWC won't transmit. I must say I am extremely happy with the results. After the initial 10 minutes of jaggy images and broken audio, teh tuner came around quite nicely and is now pulling in every digital channel with a signal strength of at least 80. I watched my first FOX HD show last night and it looked great. I can't wait for football on sunday! I was skeptical about an indoor antenna, but I'm glad I tried it before dropping some serious cash on an outdoor setup.
For the record, I live in Hilliard with the ABC and FOX antennas 8.6 miles from my house.
Here is a link to the antenna from where I purchased it:

I get a high signal strength also but the occasional dropouts on FOX are irritating. It will go from 80 to 0 back to 80 in one second.

tenja,
Hey I live in Hilliard too. I use the Winegard Sharpshooter Model SS-3000 with great results. Make it nice with out having to put up a big old antenna out side or in the attic.

Yep I do and PAX 51-1. About 70-90% depending on what time of day for both channels. Evening are best for me.
Same antenna, not such good results. NBC and PBS drop for me quite often;
My signal strenghts via VIP622 (dish network DVR)
4 - 75 % drop outs occur quite often
6 - 87% no drops
10 - 89% drops rarely
28 - 100% all the time, no drops at all
34 - 65% - 74% drops the most
51 - 91% no drops
53 - 94% no drops
I do have it split with a 10DB boost, but doesnt seem to make a difference whether or not its split.
The most annoying part is trying to watch Sunday night football and getting drops every 5 minutes or so.
I guess I could use some help.

Were in Hilliard do you live? Try moving it around a little. Sometimes just moving it a few inches or changing the angle makes a big differences.

I don't get UPN yet. It's about a 46% signal, so not good enough. I'm not real concerned as I get it via cable. It's sad, but I bought the antenna just to get FOX and ABC HD.

Just off Scioto Darby, and I have tried moving it numerous times.

Nothing sad about that, friend. I got the unidirectional Terk Squareshooter and pointed it directly at the ABC/Fox tower, because I am only interested in those HD stations. Everything else I can get on TWC cable. (Hint: If you are interested in OSU 1, 2, and 3, and have a QAM tuner, you can get them by running the cable directly into the TV, bypassing the box, which only gives you one OSUHD.)
The squareshooter is great for this limited purpose - I pull in ABC with a consistent 87+ signal, and Fox is usually in the 95-98 range. I am in UA about 6 miles from the tower, but completely obstructed by trees, which doesn't seem to pose a problem. And because NBC and CBS are in the same general direction, it pulls in those very strong as well. It will not pull in OSU or any other outlying stations.
