Does anyone know if WWHO will be broadcasting in HD after the switchover? My girlfriend wants to know if Gilmore Girls will be in HD now.

I could never figure out why they stopped showing HD. They used to, then all the suden they stopped and the signal level dropped as well.

I sure wish they'd boost it back up. I can't get it where I live in Hilliard. I've got to rely on the SD broadcast over the satellite.

I'd rather there just be a single channel called CW without networks involved so companies like Dish could just offer an HD feed.

So the CW is just UPN and the WB combined into a new network or is it just that case for WWHO?

The C stands for CBS and the W stands for Warner in CW. The goal is to merge the two networks into one since they both are aimed at a younger audience. Amusingly enough here in Columbus WWHO had already combined the two networks. For more info check out this link (http://money.cnn.com/2006/01/24/news/companies/cbs_warner/).

My SO also wants GG in HD. The D* via Zap2it.com listings always had the 11pm WB rebroadcast listed as HD, but I never saw it on 53.1, black pillars all the way.

Tonight might be different. WWHO has completely rebranded themselves as CW. (so the UPN/WB title oughta be removed on this forum) and tonight GG is on at 8pm, so they'll probably be getting the direct CW feed tonight. Zap2it says HD.

time will tell.

I got a response from my contact (who I think was the lead engineer at WWHO when they were all in Columbus).

I’ve been told that WWHO will be broadcasting “CW” HD shows in 1080i. Last season, we eventually ran some UPN shows in HD, but weren’t able to rig a way to tape delay WB shows in HD.

These CW shows should be in HD:

RUNAWAY (new Monday 9pm show)

GILMORE GIRLS (Tues 8pm)

VERONICA MARS (Tues 9pm)

ONE TREE HILL (Wed 9pm)

SMALLVILLE (Thurs 8pm)

SUPERNATURAL (Thurs 9pm)

EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS (Sunday)

GIRLFRIENDS (Sunday)

THE GAME (Sunday)

Please let me know if you ever see one of these shows in SD instead of HD, and I’ll check why it didn’t happen.

I also asked if the power was lower but he didn't respond to that question.

I have not heard back from the station yet but that is exactly what we are looking for. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Heard back from both the station manager and head engineer at the station:

HD is a go! If it has an HD label on their site program guide, it will be broadcast in HD!

Weeee!

Any idea when these will roll out to DirecTV? I have the HR-20 and haven't gotten any of the CW shows in HD yet.

Yes, when they update the software allowing you to use your OTA. CW (smallville) was the only reason I have not gone to the HR-20 yet. And by golly that season premier episode was freakin awsome!!
