The tivocommunity forum has a thread about people getting folders in the v6.3 upgrade.
http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=315237
the thread has people listing their zip codes, and some people in neighboring zips did and others did not. It seems like it was a spotty upgrade.
Has anyone from columbus gotten their hr10's upgraded yet?
oh and it's a free starz weekend on D*.
(who needs mpeg4 now -- we've got folders!)

Link (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=317345) - I just got confirmation that the 6.3 rollout has been halted till they identify and correct the problem with the 72.5 and 95 sats. Once I hear more... I'll post again.
Geez...

D* may be halting the upgrade process, or want to halt the distribution of the software, but so far haven't turned off the distribution.
I forced a call yesterday and now have the slices. The date on 6.3 is today:
tivo-hd-TiVo# echo mls /SwSystem | tivosh
Directory of /SwSystem starting at ''
Name Type FsId Date Time Size
---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----
3.1.5f-01-2-357 tyDb 684938 03/17/05 09:36 700
6.3-01-2-357 tyDb 2036763 09/19/06 06:43 768
ACTIVE tyDb 684938 03/17/05 09:36 700
tivo-hd-TiVo#
maybe there is hope for our serial numbers yet! (I did see my record light on this morning at 6:30, so maybe I got it like this guy, or just an episode of Angel on TNTHD. one or the other...)
Dayton and Cincy have it according to tivocommunity.com
admittedly it does seem that a majority of those on the "I've got it" thread have hacked boxes. I've looked for an ISO 6.3 torrent on various sites, and haven't found it yet. I'm seriously thinking about getting a new 500gb drive to dupe and swap for the 250 inside now that 6.3 is out. Then adding all the usb ethernet backdoors and .ty media ripping software. It would make the hr10 so much more than just a TiVo at that point.
I just need to get a Torx driver. which is probably a good investment anyway.

I just got this message today.
I got the message on Wednesday. Anyone know how long the download takes? I have a sneaky suspicion my Vonage bill is going to take a hit this month. :(

From the TC forums:
1) D* broadcasts the 6.3a out to everybody w/ an hr10 in the US and it's downloaded in the 2am stream (in several packaged slices) to your box. Just like the guide data and some of their other starred promotions on D* central.
2) your tivo phones D* and the mother ship says, OK, your serial number is lucky and you get 6.3 installed, here is the bash script for the tivo linux to run the downloaded install.
3) At the end of the phonecall, the hr10 starts running the script, loading the new package to a new harddrive partition, and waits for a reboot.
4) When it's time for your tivo to make another phonecall, D* says "force reboot", and 6.3 appears on your box.
So, you're not actually downloading the upgrade via the phone, just the script that says how the tivo linux should install it. Everybody in columbus with an HR10 probably has assembled the streamed/beamed overnight upgrade right now, but we are waiting for the mothership at D* to say that your personal Serial Number is the lucky number to be installed for the night.
Under settings->phone you can force a daily call to see if the install script will go. If you are lucky the sw version says: pending restart instead of 3.15f at the end of the call. then you can go back to settings -> restart and give the three thumbs to force a restart, and 6.3 will boot when you are done. But you can only force a call once, anytime, after the 2am download, multiple repeated calls are just wasting your time.
(This is waaaayyy different than other upgrades that were zipcode based, rumor has that by October 15 everyone in US should be upgraded, if you are still not 6.3 by that date, then Yes, You download the upgrade via the phone. and it would take about 45min.)

I dont know why they have not done us yet. Like I said its been on the tivo's for a bit now, just not activated. I maualy forced mine and it is well worth it.
If you have vonage you may not be able to dial out.

Oops. I forgot that it actually uses the sat signal for the download. Duh! :o I'm going to try a forced call and see what happens! ;)
If you have vonage you may not be able to dial out.
When I converted to Vonage the HR10 did fail to connect to the local 614 dialup number which had me frustrated for awhile. Luckily D* Tech Support was able to walk me through the set up of a custom dial string to a New York number that is Vonage compatible. :D

No luck. Call completed successfully but the upgrade did not occur. :( Guess I'll need to wait for it to happen naturally.

I got 6.3a last night.
Finally after more than a month of dialing in daily. The pending restart notification appeared. Then I forced a manual restart and got the tivo updating logo. Then I got the D* updating for 1hr screen (took 20min). Then the box rebooted for the last time, acquired the signal and finally, I saw Discovery HD. Tried to change channels... and couldn't.
Went to favorites and re-selected the channels, then updated the DD settings and engaged the APM (finally the DT.# channels aren't whisper quiet anymore) Then channel up/down worked again.
I loved folders on my old Directivo and the "info" for more on the record page. Finally i can confirm if that Simpsons was season 8 or season 9 and to confirm who was in that movie faster than hitting up IMDb.
It does seem faster, and as soon as xmas rolls around, and a new harddrive is in my stocking, I'll try out the webplus hacks and tytools to rip those venture brothers episodes onto a dvd.
Haven't had any problems yet, as others on TC.com have. Will keep posted.

I got the 6.3 upgrade a couple of weeks ago. Menus are faster, but now suffer from audio dropouts when watching or recording a program in dolby 5.1 I guess this is a known issue with the upgrade. Going to call and see if I can get some credit while they work on a solution.

I don't know if you want it.
Had two freakouts last night. At about 10pm, I was playing about 10min late on grey's anatomy and had set it to record two other shows at 10pm. As soon as 10:00 hit, the grey's anatomy image froze and the hr10 was unresponsive. unpluged/replugged, and restarted.
Started the records up, then froze again. unplug replug restart.
finally at 10:25 the dual records started again. and continued without any problems.
second freakout: Audio drops (8 sec) begain last night on OTA fox during the top of the ninth and continuing about every 10 min until I turned off the game in disgust at the outcome.
This is my first encounter with issues after two weeks of no issue 6.3 use.
Could be two unrelated issues, but the audio one is well documented on TC.

I'm glad it's here before the Jan 8th BCS game on FOX.
I can't stand the DD drops on 28-1. It's the only OTA I have audio issues with right now.
It's disgusting. I hope 6.3b fixes everything.

This audio hiccups haven't been too terrible for me. Typically only on Fox once or twice during an hour long episode. The thing that's driving me nuts is that once it gets full, it deletes the newest--or current--episode instead of the oldest. This can cause reboots and overall flaky behavior. I hope b fixes this as well.
