WHY??????????????????????/

rant mode on.
I mean, really, wbns used to have osu home games in hd before anybody had hd (7 years ago), and now that hd is everywhere, we can't get the game in hd? maybe i just read the wbns website wrong and it will be in hd? or is it because espn gameplan has messed it up? arrrghhh - here we are, #1, and we still can't see the game in hd.
rant mode off.

Yup, agree with nakedeye. The next and possibly only other OSU HD game this season will be:

• Sept. 30, 8 p.m. ET: Ohio State at Iowa or Michigan at Minnesota*

*(one will be on ABC, the other on ESPNHD)

The OSU/Michigan game is a 3:30 p.m. kick and the Buckeyes play the week prior @ Minnesota, so this could possibly be in HD because they won't have the equipment stationed there from the week before (like last year's Texas@OSU game)--but I wouldn't bet on it.

Lyon Video's Unit #3 will be supplying 2 cameras and audio for ESPN Regional coverage of Saturday's OSU game. All the remaining cameras will be shared from an ESPN Big East truck and crew parked adjacent to Lyon's.
Next year Regional will be losing Big Ten coverage to the Big Ten Network. No one knows, at this point, if HD will be involved in those contracts.

Thanks for the update scgalena. I was hoping that you would weigh in on this discussion.

In fact, the first college football game broadcast in HD was September 5, 1998. It was OSU vs WVU. HD equipment was pooled/rented/leased & borrowed from several manufactures to make this event possible.

Change of plans. I have just been informed that Lyon's truck 3 and 8 of it's cameras will now be the primary Regional feed rather than the Big East truck, as I had reported earlier. Not HD in either case but just wanted to correct my information.

Here is the pecking order for Big Ten games

1 Saturday night ABC (HD)
2 ABC 3:30 (only one regional game is HD)
3 ESPN Noon (HD)
4 ESPN2 Noon (HD)
5 ESPN Plus (not HD)

The Cincinnati game is on ESPN Plus, so it is not in HD. ABC has already stated that the 3:30 Penn State @ Ohio State game will be in HD. So far, all ESPN and ESPN2 games have been in HD. I would expect that to continue. I would expect ABC to televise Michigan @ Ohio State in HD, since it is the only game at 3:30 that day.

09/16 Cincinnati (2) Columbus, OH ESPN Plus 12:00 PM (not HD)
09/23 Penn State Columbus, OH ABC 3:30 PM (HD)
09/30 Iowa Iowa City, IA ABC or ESPN 8:00 PM (HD)
10/07 Bowling Green Columbus, OH ESPN+ 3:30 PM (not HD)
10/14 Michigan State East Lansing, MI TBA
10/21 Indiana Columbus, OH TBA 12:00 PM
10/28 Minnesota (3) Columbus, OH ABC, ESPN or ESPN2 3:30 PM (unsure if on ABC)
11/04 Illinois Champaign, IL TBA
11/11 Northwestern Evanston, IL TBA
11/18 Michigan Columbus, OH ABC 3:30 PM (HD)

On a separate note, did anyone notice that there are 3 games in HD at the same time this Saturday at 3:30. Michigan @ Notre Dame on NBC, Miami @ Louisville on ABC, and LSU @ Auburn on CBS!

3 of the first 5 isn't bad at all. Michigan would be four and any noon game on ESPN or ESPN2 during the Big Ten season will also be HD. This is actually a huge breakthrough year for Buckeye football in HD.

Figures, looks like most the games I'll actually BE at are going to be in HD.

I've got tickets to all the home games. I'm taking bids on my Michigan tickets ;-) Downside is that you have to take my wife, and she's one of those people who paints her face and "wears $500 of scarlet and grey". Oh yeah, she's loud, obscene, and she WILL start a fight! LOL

well, if we get that many OSU games in HD, plus the national championship game that we'll win, i guess i can't complain much. and yes, i did notice all the great games in hd tomorrow - and don't forget usc v. (whoever) at 8pm (gotta keep up on our so-called competition).
