Scott,
Is there any plugin for vBulliten to support mobile devices? I just was given a Treo 700w and I'm able to surf the net and do all that email jazz. I'd love to be able to read & post on the forum from my phone. I searched over at vBulletin.org and found some mention of a WAP plugin. Is there anything like that for the site here?
Just wondering...

If you're a member of tivocommunity.com, browse out to their site and see if their mobile theme works on your treo (from my quick research, it seems to be just a skin change; although, not all features are made available). If it seems to work okay, let me know, I think I can track down where they got the theme from and install it as a selection here.

I've been meaning to mention this for awhile as well--but I also have an RSS feed running for the site (not sure if your treo can get RSS).
You can get your feed @
http://www.hdcolumbus.net/vb-hdtv/external.php?type=RSS and it will keep you up-to-date with updated threads...
We are a web 1.8 shop baby! :D

I tried out the mobile skin for the tivo site that you mentioned. Seems to work great on my Treo. Is it easy to get that skin for our site?

Try the new theme out for mobile devices: HDC - Mobile
Please let me know how it works.

It's usable for the forums. But the main page is a bit tricky. For me I should have no problem. Question for you. I haven't signed in yet on the mobile, but will the mobile theme stick with the account so when I log in on the computer I get the same theme?

Yeah, it's really designed for VB 3.03 but I ported it over to 3.5.x--and for the forums only. The main page uses VBCMPS, so it may not fuction well.
I have the themes setup to cookie by default. As long as you do not set your profile to default to the mobile theme, your PC/Mac should default to whatever you had the theme set to.

Direct your mobile device to http://mobile.hdcolumbus.net
This new subdomain will automatically re-direct you to the forum home and apply the mobile theme.

sweet. I'm typing this on my Treo. Looks great so far. The only weird part is some kind of split-screen bar at the bottom while I browse around. Otherwise it's perfect for me. Thanks again.

Thought I would test the Mobile HDColumbus.net site on a Pocket PC. Seems to be working great for me so far. Figured since I'm looking at an HD site I probably should be using 16 x 9 view mode rather than 4 x 3. Ha.

Going to mobile.hdcolumbus.net on my computer at home resets the cookie so that when I load up hdcolumbus.net I get the mobile style with no drop down box to change it. I just went to the user control panel to switch it back. Maybe only allow the mobile theme on the mobile site? Is that even possible?

Update: I've been fiddling with your suggestion for the past couple of weeks here and there and I haven't been able to develop a workable solution for the auto-detection of WAP devices. I think I'll probably end up writing some code into the mobile template to allow for template changes in case a browser happens upon the mobile.hdcolumbus.net sub.
I'll keep you posted.
