Hi, new to this forum, am currently having an issue with my tv receiving ABC6 WSYX over the air. have a Toshiba 42HP66 TV with integrated HD Tuner. Have done a rescan for channels about 20 times. I am receiving a steady 77% on the signal strength menu when tuned into ABC6 6.001 but the video is choppy as well as the sound.
I tune into WTTE Fox28 and the signal strength is about identical, however the picture and sound are next to flawless.
No other HD issues since I have rest of local channels over TW Digital Cable. But this issue has got me confused. Using a regular antenna to receive over the air FOX and ABC. Currently Reside in Delaware, and have my antenna pointed properly for ABC/FOX reception. Any ideas??

I live between Powell and Delaware and use a small set top Terk HDTVi. I get WSYX at about 85%, flawlessly. WSYX, if I remember correctly, is at the top of the VHF range (13), just under UHF. So if you're using a UHF only antenna, it might be an issue. I need to use the VHF dipoles on my antenna to lock onto WSYX properly.

the odd thing is i spent about 40 mins last night to get it by playing around with the adjustment of both the vhf and uhf antennas. never had this problem until recently with abc. about a month ago had the same issue with fox, that cleared up. only hd ota signal i can not receive well is WWHO, ut probably could if i moved antenna up attic area, but thats not a big concern as i get WWHO, NBC4, and CBS10 over cable.

A while back, on another site, an engineer posted a message about optimal dipole positioning. I don't remember his exact post, but I set mine up as closely as I could after reading it. I extend each dipole about 2 1/2 feet, both at 45 degrees (90 degrees from each other). Both perpendicular to the transmission tower. Basically form a big V that faces the tower. After setting up my antenna this way I've not seen any pixelization, freeze ups, etc.

hate to ask this, but could your receiver be dying for vhf? if nothing changed, and all of sudden you're not getting wsyx, but all the others are normal.... not sure how to test that though.

After reading your post, i dusted off my half rusted dipole and tried it out. My jaw just dropped how much better it was compared to my other antennas (silver sensor, Jansen low profile) in getting WSYX. In two hours I watched, didn't pixelated once! Signal consistently at 75% from my basement.
Not only that, all other channels were better as well, Channel 4 & 10, signal strength in 90's. WTTE at mid 80's. It even held 53 without dropping! WOSU was lost altogether for some reason.
Why didn't I tried this sooner!
I used MDP-130 HDTV card and built-in tuner in my Olevia HDTV. A single antenna feed was splitted to go to both places.
Now I am all set to record the Saturday game. Go Bucks!

I'm surprised you had any signal at all on 13.1 with the Silver Sensor--I believe that antenna picks up UHF only. Your loss of WOSU is most likely the positioning of your dipoles. If you're pointing towards the affiliate towers, your actually pointing away from WOSU:

That's awesome you got everything working in time for CFB. It looks like ABC (actually, ESPN on ABC) may come through for us HDTV fans this year.

Yeah, it looks like ABC is stepping up a bit for the CFB games and CBS is actually airing more than one NFL game in HD on Sundays. Doesn't look like all CBS games will be in HD, but more than last year. We're getting there, finally.
