I just picked up a brand new Sony SXRD (LCoS) 60A2000.
WOW
It is amazing.
HD-DVD in 1080p on this set is unreal.
Big shout out to Smakrunner2k for the hook up. it was well worth the drive to Chilli. I sugest to all of you that if you are in the market for any thing electronic wise you give him a pm.

Sweet. I've always been a big fan of CRT displays for picture quality, but I really like that set. If I was to get one right now, thats what I would get.

I was very nervous about going to anything non CRT due to the black levels.
That being said the black levels in a dark room are not great on this set.
Now THAT being said the stunning sharpness of these LCoS set is rediculos. I loved my CRT and thought the picture could not be beat. Even though the black are not there, it is well worht going this route. A true full bandwith HD source is just jaw dropping. 1080p HD-DVD is ..... well orgasmic.

Ohh and just for the record, I have actualy been a Sony hater for many years based upon thier piss poor audio stuff. I also thought thier video was nice but not best, and was over priced.
I now own two sony sets and all I can sat about both is......Holy shit thats a good picture...

Had the 60 been about 1.5k cheaper, I would have one too. :D
When I did my set shopping a few months ago we were sorley tempted to break the bank and get the Sony. I am happy with what I got, for the price I got it at, but yeah, I don't have anything bad to say about the Sony sets.

Congrats. I'm envious of your 1080p goodness.
One of my friends just got the 37" Westy 1080p set. Should be here tomorrow. He got it for a steal at around $1100 from Sam's Club online.

Well, i pulled the trigger and got the 50, when i saw the set the first time i was impressed but i was not blown away. I paid a visit to our member Smak Runner 2k, and he really gave me a TOTAL honest opinion about the pricing of the TV. I decided to get the set from him and was well worth the drive.
The set arrived yesterday and was a september build so hopefully some of the initial issues have been resolved. I hooked the TV up to my Hughes HTL-HD directv Hd receiver and WOOOOOOOW.... it was great. i went to avsforum and got some good initial settings and tweaks and this thing looks mind blowing. I already have a 50 inch sony(KF50WE610) which has been calibrated and it looks great also but it was no comparison to the a2000 as expected although the SD on the a2000 is just slightly better.
Hd on this thing is amazing, i have seen alot of hdtv's in my life and this looks absolutely stunning. i watched monday night football and i could see the scuff marks on the players helmets and even the schaving rash on steve youngs face! I need to tweak the green a little but it was awesome.
i have an old marantz dvd changer and i hooked it up with component video, i expected it to be good but i swear star wars III look like i was watching hd-dvd version. I am not joking it looked that good.
i want to hook up my antenna directly to the tuner in the tv and see what type of picture i get.
Overall i am very satisfied with the TV and the purchase process with smak runner 2k, it is well worth the drive to chili..
PM me if you like my settings or you can go to avsforum.

Hmmm, I use the HH in Sawmill and have been happy. Next time I need something I might have to seek out smak...

I also use hhgregg on Sawmill, they have been good to work with. I too will have to seek out Smak, if and when the RP gives out or I move.

Am real interested in the SXRD set too. Thinking I might like to get one to replace the Hitachi in the living room (once it is hopefully repaired) and move the Hitachi to the bedroom. Not sure if the wife will go for this though. She is hoping when I replace the set in the living room I will go with a flat screen to hang on the wall. My older Hitachi takes up a lot of real estate in the living room..lol. Any recommendations on a good flat screen like LCD or Plasma?
