Im in Nashport OH, which is about 50 miles from the Columbus towers. I just bought a CM 4228 in hopes of picking up AT LEAST WSYX-DT and WTTE-DT. I thought Id post on here and start a thread to see if anyone has any tips or comments for me. I also started this thread because I could find no other forums where someone from my county (Muskingum) had tried to get HD OTA, so maybe this thread will help future people in my area or distance.

Id also like to say that while I think trying this experiment will be fun, I would have rather not even be in this situation due to Sinclair and TWC not getting a deal done so that I could have ABC and FOX in HD the easy way.

Ill post back with my success or failure. In the meantime, maybe some of you folks have some helpful hints to share for someone in my situation.

THANKS

I don't think the CM 4228 will help with WSYX-DT. They broadcast DT on channel 13.

Let us know how it goes. Antennaweb.org lists the station that you can expect to receive and the list is not long for Nashport with only WHIZ-DT the only digital.

Helpful hints? The higher and bigger the better. You could try two CM 4228's ganged together with an amp. but even that might not work.

Well, this is my first attempt. If the 4228 alone doesnt work, I am willing to add a CM 7777 preamp and a Winegard YA1713. After some research on several forums, the 4228 seemed to sound like a good place to start. From what I have read, it is supposed to have very good abilities to pick up VHF-Hi, especially CH 13. I will let you know what happens as I go.

How tall is your tower?

A guy I work with was in mt. vernon and could pick up all of the columbus stations with the largest antenna from radio shack (normal old-style antenna) on a tower and an amp in his house. I live in delaware (20 miles from columbus) and get all the columbus stations plus the one in circleville with a $50 radio shack antenna in my attic and a $12 amp from wal-mart in my basement.
