HD Columbus has teamed up with Amazon to offer a storefront in an effort help support the forum monetarily (I get it, the raffle was a bad idea, lol).

Essentially, it works like this; choose the link (http://www.hdcolumbus.net/vb-hdtv/amazonindex.php) labled 'Amazon Store' from the top navigation. Then, just choose the category you're interested in (HDTV can be found in 'Electronics'), and drill down to research your item. The items in the database are pulling directly from Amazon so anything that you want to find on their site, you can find here (great for simply researching an item directly in the site). We've only listed categories that we feel would be of interest to the members of the community. If you decide to purchase an item, simply click the 'Buy From Amazon' button and you will be whisked away to their site to complete the transaction.

This is not pay-per-click advertising. HD Columbus receives 4% on any purchase you make only--this is the way the site is monetized.

We're currently looking into a group 'Amazon Prime' membership that would allow for any member using the store to collectively receive free three-day shipping and $3.99 overnight shipping. We'll keep everyone posted on this endeavor.

Personally, I think it's pretty cool that we were able to tweak Amazon's API for their storefront and integrate it totally with the forum software. If anything, it was at least a learning experience.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to post them here, or, PM me.

Thanks!

OK.. I bought something through the Amazon store link. Did the forum get any money from it? 4% of $73 should have given the forum $2.92.

Ok, I bought some ink. The one thing is, can we get the storefront here to show the different seller options? It gave me a different seller than Amazon which didn't give me my prime shipping price. I changed to the Amazon seller from my cart inside Amazon, so I'm also curious if the purchase will still count for here.

I'll check into modifying the code to include seller options. The problem is, I'm limited to Amazon's API and if they do not have a hook for the feature, I can't add it (it didn't register FWIW).

I was ready to order a few books when I remembered that you get a referral credit to keep this site running, so I am all about supporting.

Just to make sure I did it correct, I found one item using the store tab on this site. When I clicked purchase from amazon, it took me to their site. Once on their site I added more items (3 total). Does HD Columbus get credit for all items added, or should I have come back to the store front each time?

Okay, it must be on a one day delay... Your order shows up now! Apparently our referral link stays with you when you have to navigate to a different seller.

Thanks for the support! I'll let you know if we got credit for all 3 items once the report posts tomorrow!

Shibby! I haven't heard back from Amazon about the Prime membership deal. I do know that if we buy one (like $80 for a year), we can add up to 5 people that can use it; however, I posed the question to them about multiple people using it, etc.

And, sticky'd!
