Just signed up for WOW. They gave me $10 off a month (for a year) and free installation.

I feel liberated from the dreadful HD lineup on TW. :D

I am jealous. Good for you. Please let us know how you like the change after a week or so.

I just switched back to TWC from WOW. I only had WOW for about 2 weeks. It was nice to have the extra HD channels, but for me that is where the benefits of WOW ended.

As you may have read from one of my posts in a different thread, I had some billing issues with WOW that I was unable to resolve (Basically, they quoted me a price to get my business and would not stand by it once it was installed).

Even if I had not had the billing issue and or poor customer service with WOW, I probably would have eventually cancelled them.

Here was the Issues I had:

1. Poor quality of SD channels compared to TWC.
2. Blah Guide Interface with less functionality than provided with TWC.
3. Intermittent cable modem issues. I work from home a lot and my VPN connection kept hanging up on their network.

The good news was the WOW did not charge me anything for the 2 weeks and TWC gave me a huge discount since I was coming back to them from WOW. I got that discount in writing :)

I thought about switching to Dish, but I have never really been a fan of satellite. Of course, that opinion is not based on ever having it, just information recieved from others.

Hope your WOW experience turns out better than mine and watch that bill.

I will let everyone know my thoughts on WOW here in about a week. I was never impressed with TW customer service, so WOW will not have to do much to impress me. Don't think billing will an issue, but I will keep an eye on it.

It's kinda ironic that I see a google ad below for Time Warner Cable.......

I switched from WOW two years ago to Time Warner because of a billing issue too. They did not honor the quoted price to me either.

Have had WOW now for almost a week. Here are my pros and cons.

Pros

- 17 HD channels (having ABC and Fox is great)
- Starz/Encore included with digital pack
- 4 MB internet seems a bit faster than Roadrunner Lite
- Picture quality is fine (no problem with lower # channels)
- "HD" symbol shows up on guide when show is in HD
- Bill was accurate, no probs with installation

Cons

- Program guide is "clunky"
- Cannot start a progam from begininng if it still recording on the HD DVR ( you can do this on TW's)
- Must switch back and forth between "normal" and "stretch" when flipping between HD and non HD shows (TW's box did this automatically)
- Not many options on HD DVR and cannot see list of shows you picked to record everytime they air (can only see scheduled recordings)

Overall, I am glad I made the switch. The TW HD DVR service is better, but the addtional HD channels are why I switched to WOW. If they add MTV and ESPN2 HD I will be set.

fkmich99,

Contact WOW customer service and ask them to update the DVR software on your box. WOW is in the process of testing internally an updated guide software that fixes some of the issues you point out about the guide. Also it looks a lot better and had more features. I contact WOW from the website and they sent the request in to have my software updated, a few days later it was done.

In addition, you can find out a lot about how to setup the DVR box here and fix your settings so that you do not have to change from full to wide, etc.

I still ended up getting rid of WOW, but this definitely help me use the DVR.
