NO Browns Pre-Season in HD!!!

Here's a link to the article at WBNS, touting their airing all four browns pre-season games. With a special note at the end in bold and caps that the broadcasts will NOT be in HD. Maddening! :mad: :mad: :mad:

Talk about one of the main reasons I purchased an HDTV - browns football. :mad: :eek:

EDIT: Ok well I bought an HDtv for a million other reasons than browns football and I'm not one bit disappointed with the purchase, but HD football was something I was heavily anticipating.

If you purchased HDTV for Brown's football you may be a little disappointed. CBS does three AFC games a week in HDTV, but normally does about six or seven games, so less than half a in HD. Of those three HD games, the Browns are rarely the HD ones because they are less high profile or good than some other teams in the AFC. Now that the Bengals are decent, WBNS seems to be showing their games over Cleveland when they have to choose. The Browns also don't have any Sunday or Monday night games, which are always in HD.

Well I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the Browns getting the shaft in terms of coverage. Nothing new there. I should be better at dealing with disappointment when it comes to the browns... but I'll never learn. :)

as I posted in the WBNS-DT area on a thread of the same topic, here is the email I received back from their director of operations.



Chad,

The company producing the Browns games is not producing them in HDTV.
This is beyond the control of WBNS.

Should the games have been available in HD, we certainly would have
broadcast them in HD. Since they're not, we're using our digital channel
to give our viewers a choice between football or Big Brother (which many
are upset we are preempting.)

I hope this better explains the situation.
