Ok, so I called this morning to see if I can drop this crappy Time Warner Cable for WOW. I find out it is not available for my address (Hilliard, close to Robert Rd). I am bummed.

I am really getting tired of TWC and their lack of HD channels and additions.

Does anyone have a good contact for WOW that I can speak to regarding service. I'm not sure the customer service rep I spoke to was right as a WOW van was parked at a neighbors house for an hour saturday morning.

I know exactly what you're going though. I've watched this site for years watching for TW to announce ABC/FOX etc...

I live in the same area as you (Roberts/Alton Darby), called WOW and they told me we're not serviceable. Called back and told them that our next door neighbors (which we share a junction box with) have WOW. 3 calls later they're finally sending someone out to check it.

They actually had our street name spelled wrong. Keep calling back, eventually they'll get someone out to your area.

I get Ads for WOW all the time in the mailed and local mail box hanger Ads. I live in Lakewood off of Alton-Darby and my one neighbor has WOW.

I just switched to WOW last week from TW. However, I just received my first bill in the mail and it was about $35 more per month than I was told over the phone when I setup my install. I called up and they have no record of the price I was told on the phone and now I am waiting to find out what they can do about the price. This does not reflect good on my opinion of them so far and I am hoping they will work it out.

So if you decide to switch to WOW, I would recommend you have them email/fax/mail you the price quote prior to agreeing to have them install it. The WOW sales reps are willing to discount pretty heavily when switching from other providers, but it appears that is might be a lot of talk.

If they do not resolve this, I will be switching back to TW, but I will miss the extra channels that WOW provider.

As for the service my main complaint so far is the HD DVR box. It uses the standard SARA software the comes with the box and it has some annoying quirks about it. The two main ones are:
1. If you try to watch a recording in progress, it does not start from the beginning, it starts from the point it is recording and you have to rewind.
2. If you are watching a recording in progress, once the recording finishes, it kicks to live tv and then you have to restart watching the recording and FF or Skip to End and Rewind.

This is supposed to be resolved in the latest firmware for the SA 8300HD, but it is currently in testing phase with WOW. I did convince them to try and give it to me early, so hopefully they will send it to my box soon.

Later,
RW

I also live off of Alton Darby just north of Roberts behind the Lakewood Sub. and I have WOW service. I have had it for about 9 months now and it has been great. I switched from TW when I got an HDTV and they severly undercut what TW could offer. I have never had a problem with my bill and the discount I have is applied as a $30 credit every month for 18 months. I would follow others advice and keep calling the CS agent.

Unfortunately WOW was unable to keep my business. Regretfully, I am switching back to TW. At least TW is honest in their pricing and billing.

It is funny how WOW was unable to give me the price they quoted. My bill only gave me a $20 discount when I was supposed to get $30. They are willing to lose my $125 a month over $10. I spoke to about 3 different CSRs, Sales reps and supervisors. They said they could not go over $20 and that the CSR that took my order would be "talked to". They did not seem to care to lose my business. At least WOW has a 30 day Money back guarantee so I will not be charged anything.

As I stated before, I would make sure to get any discounts quoted in writing before signing up. This is a lesson learned by me.

For those of you getting WOW, does it have all local HD's QAM for their basic tier serivce? From their website, I see their basic limited is $13.99 a month. I get mail from them all the time, I think my area has both TW and WOW.

Right now, I pay $14 a month to TW for very basic and do get the 4,10,PBS, and UPN(53?) in QAM HD.

No. The only channels you can watch on a TV with a QAM tuner are Channel 4's weather channel and PPV preview. Everything else is encrypted :(
